Care & Cleaning: General Guide
All of our products are manufactured with high-quality materials and built to last. But, like any product, it's important you know how to properly care for your items to ensure a lifetime of enjoyment.
Note that some of our products have specific care instructions that differ from what you see below. Always check our FAQ, along with any tags attached to the product, or any information on the product page itself to make sure you are following the best care instructions for your specific product.
Cleaning
Most of our products are machine-washable - either by laundry or dishwasher, depending on the product. However, machines can be tough on gear - and it's often not necessary.
For that reason, we always recommend that you clean your Trek Light products by hand whenever possible to ensure a delicate and gentle cleaning process.
If you do use a washing machine, dryer, or dishwasher - make sure you always use the most gentle cycle available.
When hand-washing, just some warm water and gentle soap (if needed) will do the job. If necessary, just soak the item in some warm water and scrub with a soft towel or washcloth to get rid of any tougher grime.
There's definitely no need to put any of our lightweight quick-dry products in the dryer - just hang them up and they will air dry quickly.
What to Avoid:
Fire & Flame
Always keep fire, excessive heat, and flame away from all of our products. If using near a campfire or firepit, make sure to keep the products far enough away from the fire that hot embers or ash won't land on it.
Sharp / Rough Objects / Pets
Regardless of the material, sharp/rough objects can cause damage to any product. And no matter how cute your favorite pet is, there's a possibility they'll void your warranty if they try to turn your favorite Trek Light product into a toy.
Extended UV Exposure
Over a period of time, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight is what we call a gear-killer. Whether the product is textile, apparel, or a hard-good - extended exposure to UV will eventually cause the colors to fade and weaken the material.
You don't need to be concerned about using any of your Trek Light products in the sun, that's normal! But we don't recommend leaving any of our products outdoors and unattended for extended periods.
If there's excessive fading of the product's colors, then you'll know it's been in the sun too long - and you'll void your warranty if there's visible UV damage to your product.
