We're bringing the mystery back to online shopping, at a price point that makes it all worthwhile.
You get one of our high-quality blankets, but the color and style is a mystery until it shows up at your door.
It may be a unique variation of one of our current blanket styles, or a completely new style or color that we don't carry on our site.
Size (and every other detail!) will vary, see below for details.
The product photo on this page is an illustration and not an indication of any blanket colors or details!
All sales are final and supplies are limited.
Go get 'em Sherlock.
Here's what you can expect, with no expectations of course:
The Mystery Blankets are typically a midweight blanket (~3-5lbs) and may range in size from around 4.5' x 6.5' to 5' x 7'.
All details can vary from blanket to blanket (including variances in size, weight, etc. from what's described above), but rest assured that you'll receive a blanket of the same quality and craftsmanship as other comparable styles we sell on our site.
These are brand new blankets, and they aren't factory seconds or defects.
Remember, all sales are final and we can't accept returns or exchanges for Mystery Blankets.
We're confident you'll love what you get, but if you're extremely picky about colors or patterns you're much better off ordering one of our standard blanket styles.
What gets shipped out always depends on what's in our mystery stock on the day you order.
While you may receive multiple unique blankets, "mystery" does not mean random - so please be aware that when ordering multiple mystery blankets you may receive blankets that are the same (or similar) color/style.
If it's essential to you that each blanket you receive is completely different, we recommend that you order from the individual styles on our site.
Check out the product reviews for photos from our happy customers (all verified purchasers) - but remember, yours may be one-of-a-kind!
When you receive your blanket, take a picture of it and share it in a review so others can see what you got!
We're thrilled to be able to offer you a great price and surprise you with a fun shopping experience - it allows us to be more flexible with our stock and carry more unique blanket styles without having to come up with a witty name for each one!
These aren't machine-made clones - these are completely individual, one-of-a-kind works of art.
Blankets that feature curved or circular designs will typically have a small amount of spacing around the curved transitions. The looser threads around the curves are a normal part of the traditional weaving process and they do not affect the integrity of your blanket. If you don't like the way it looks, you can easily just push the threads closer together with your fingers and the gap will magically disappear!
Every blanket is beautiful in its uniqueness so you should feel comfortable that you'll get a blanket you'll be happy with - but if you have questions about this please feel free to contact us before you order!
Due to their handwoven nature, our blankets may have some stray, loose, or pop-out threads, even when they're brand new. These aspects of the weaving process are intentionally left intact - it's what gives handwoven blankets their character and sets them apart from machined textiles. In other words, this is totally normal for a handwoven textile and isn't considered a defect, it's meant to be appreciated!
As noted above, if you notice what appears to be a "hole" anywhere in your woven blanket, don't fret! In most cases, it simply means the threads are pulled apart, which gives the illusion of a hole in the material. You can just push the threads back towards the hole so they're distributed evenly and watch it disappear!
For the absolute best results, we recommend dry cleaning the blankets as it will always be the safest and most gentle process for them.
But, we're also big fans of this Mitch Hedberg line:
"This shirt is dry clean only. Which means... it's dirty."
We get it, it can be a deterrent if your favorite blanket is the one thing that forces you to have to make a trip to the dry cleaners.
Which is exactly why we made sure that all of our current blankets are washer-friendly! Just do it with love.
If you do wash at home - do it on a cold, delicate cycle and then either hang the blanket to air dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat and tumble setting (again, delicate!).
The cold part is very important! Some of our blankets have both dark dyes and light areas on them. Washing on cold will prevent the red and darker dyes from bleeding into the other areas.
If needing to wash multiple blankets, we recommended washing and drying each blanket separately for best results.
As with just about any material, you want to keep fire and flame away from it. Refrain from smoking near the blanket and if camping, make sure to set it up far enough away from the fire that hot embers or ash won't land on it. The blanket isn't coated with any flammable chemicals so it won't burst into flames if a spark hits it, but it will burn a hole in your favorite new blanket and that's no fun.
Something sharp or abrasive can obviously cause a tear in your Trek Light Gear blanket. If you're using it on the ground, watch out for sharp sticks or other objects that could snag on the blanket. Remember that snags in a woven blanket can look worse than they are - the woven threads are just getting pulled apart so it looks like a hole, but you can make that 'hole' disappear just by pushing the threads back together again.
Like most textiles, you don't want to let your blanket get moldy or mildewy. The blankets can be washed, so you certainly don't need to be afraid of getting it wet, but just remember not to pack your blanket away while it's wet and forget about it. As long as you hang it to dry or tumble dry (see above) you'll have no issues with mold.
Over a period of time, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colors of the blanket to fade and will eventually weaken the fibers in the yarn. You don't need to be concerned about using your blanket in the sun, that's normal. But we don't recommend leaving your blanket (or any other Trek Light Gear products) permanently outdoors as it will shorten the life of your product and void your warranty. For more detail, see this page on UV and Elements Exposure.
For every item sold, we work with Trees For The Future to plant a tree in your honor.
Why is that so powerful? By helping small farmers and villages around the world with the planting of fruit & vegetable trees, shade trees and more, together we're going beyond basic environmental change.
Trees For The Future uses a Forest Garden approach to reforestation - planting trees to not only provide environmental benefits, but also food, income, and community agriculture where it's needed most.

Love the mystery blanket I received. My kids love it too. Will order more for gifts.
l ordered 2 mystery blankets and was surprised that I received 2 of the same blanket. But they are made really well and are just beautiful. I received the Divided Sky Blanket in Rust !!
I love the blanket and the colors are perfect. I haven't taken it with me anywhere yet cause it just looks too nice on my bed.
I originally ordered a blanket for my son that camps all the time. He talked so much about the blanket that I just had to get one myself.
Thank you Trek Light for such nice blankets.
I purchased the Mystery Blanket, and was very excited to receive it. Mystery blanket is an appropriate name for it, as somehow it keeps you warm, but not hot. I used this to cover up in the hellscape known as August in Oklahoma. The blanket is very comfortable, and it almost seemed as if it was slowing cuddling me to sleep.
UNFORTUNATELY, this lovely, lovely blanket was stolen from me, I believe from a cat burglar. I was able to record a picture of the heinous thief through security footage. If anyone can help me recover my blanket, I will pay you in cookies.
I LOVE my mystery blanket! It arrived just in time for me to take on my trip to Oregon. I used it every night because it was chilly. I took it to the beach one day and sat on it. The sand came off of it easily when I shook it. I have washed it twice and it seems to have gotten softer which makes me love it even more. I am not disappointed in the color/pattern either. It’s perfect!
I wanted a good wool blanket for camping/sleeping in the back of my forester during cross country road trip through the mountains. I’m not a huge fan of the southwest style however this blanket is warm and cozy during cold nights in the mountains. Definitely use a sheet or other soft blanket unless you like the corse feel of wool. I also had to toss it in the wash before using due to strong smell and stiffness. Be sure to follow directions, cold water, delicate cycle & no heat in dryer. Overall I’m happy with my mystery blanket, I wasn’t willing to spend the extra money for a specific style since I was more concerned with the functionality of the blanket.
