Trek Light Gear was founded by Seth Haber in the spring of 2003.
Seth's love of the outdoors brought him from Rhode Island to Boulder, Colorado (via Australia) in 2001, where he quickly put his computer science degree to use working for a medical company in the area. Despite a busy schedule, he did everything possible to take advantage of the vast new wilderness around him and used his time outdoors to relax, unwind, and go on unforgettable adventures with friends.
As a full fledged weekend warrior it began to occur to Seth that there were always brief moments within each trip and adventure that stayed with him long after he returned to the cubicle and went back to work. If you've ever sat at your desk after returning from a vacation and closed your eyes to feel yourself back on the beach or back at your campsite listening to the wind in the trees, then you know the feeling.
Realizing that it was these moments of bliss and relaxation that were the key to creating a healthy balance in a busy life, Seth soon found himself searching for a way to encourage other people around him to get outside, take a break and enjoy the world in a low impact and healthy way.
And then, it was a night spent sleeping in a hammock under the stars that changed everything.
What better way to get outside, relax and take a break from a busy life than to lie in a hammock? And, what if you could easily take that hammock, that little piece of heaven, with you wherever you went?
Once you remove the confines of a traditional, bulky hammock it becomes a universal companion - it encourages you to be more adventurous, to sleep under the stars and get outdoors, and the very same piece of gear helps you to de-stress, slow down, and relax when you need it most. With this revelation, the Trek Light Hammock was born.
By the summer of 2003, Seth was traveling all over the state of Colorado selling the hammocks at local festivals and shows and spreading his philosophy that no matter how crazy your life is, you are never too busy to take a few moments and relax.
