All it takes one little mosquito to ruin a perfect hammock day. When the bugs come out, tell them to buzz off and get their own hammock with our Bug Free Hammock Shield. It's the packable and practical accessory to help you kick back and enjoy your hammock without the mosquitoes, bugs and 'no-see-ums'.

A full 360° of bug protection means you can relax in peace while the bugs move on to harass your less-prepared friends. Sorry friends, maybe next time you'll Trek Lightly.

Note: The hammock is sold separately.

Hammock Camping Hammock Bug Net - Trek Light Gear

Don't be fooled by other so-called 'skeeter beeter' hammocks that feature a bug net which is attached to the top of the hammock only - mosquitoes are often more than capable of biting you right through the bottom of the hammock!

The Bug Free Hammock Shield completely surrounds your Trek Light Hammock (and almost all other non-spreader bar hammock brands). And since it's a separate accessory you can easily enjoy the hammock without the netting - set it up when you need it, leave it packed up when you don't.

Setting Up Your Hammock Bug Net - Hammock Camping

Easy Setup Instructions

  1. Loosen the drawstrings on each end, feed the hammock through the netting and attach the hammock to the tree like you normally would. Use the drawstring to close the netting at each end.
  2. Hang the ridgeline: The cord has a fixed end and an adjustable end.  Wrap the fixed end around the tree and clip it back onto itself. Do the same with the other end and use the toggle to tighten until taut.
  3. Attach the clips on the top of your net to the ridgeline to keep it elevated.
  4. That's it. Unzip, climb in, and zip it back up for an entirely bug free hammock experience.

Great net, ridge line cord too short

The net was easy to set up and worked great to keep bugs out. Easy to get in and out of! But I had to Macgyver the ridgeline cord because it didn’t even come close to wrapping around 1 tree and reaching the other side. Fortunately my tree happened to have a nail that I could secure 1 side to.

Thanks for sharing your experience Susan. If you run into that situation again, you can always attach the bug net ridgeline to your hammock suspension (ropes/straps) instead of having to go around the tree. If we can ever help with anything just let us know, and happy hammocking!

Excellent customer service

I have great faith in the bug net although I have not had a chance to use it yet. What was exceptional was the correspondence that accompanied the product. The individual notes were a very nice touch.

Thanks so much, Larry! We're always here to make you smile. :) Enjoy your bug net!

I love the bug shield.

I love the bug shield. Only needed it in the morning and evening on my camp out, so during the day I used it as a super comfy pillow. =)

It works. It's fairly heavy

It works. It's fairly heavy and bulky as it wraps the whole hammock and seems to have more netting than is needed. I replaced the integrated ridge line with 550 cord as it seemed flimsy. I changed the clips for the ridge line to small metal carabiners too as the plastic clips look like they will fail easily. The end slipped over the hammock one night and up allowing mosquitoes in - making sure it extends beyond the hammock should minimize that risk. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and slept comfortably.

Love, love, love it

The Bug Shield is awesome. Setup is a snap, and I sleep much better knowing I won't be bothered by bugs.
