Be The Change

Hot on the heels of our announcement about our exclusive Banana Hammock that will ensure that every hammock sold raises money for cancer research, I’ve got another incredible announcement to share with you today.

Bindle Pack Trek Light

First,  a side note, our bag formerly known as the PackBack has a new name.  It’s now the Bindle Daypack™ - same incredible design with a new and improved name to help us avoid some potential trademark confusion down the road.

Secondly, the Bindle Daypack is in stock now!

The waiting list has been growing rapidly since we sold out and we’re happy to share that the wait is now over.

We’ll continue to do everything we can to keep up with demand going forward but it wouldn’t surprise me if we sell out of our current inventory quicker than expected so don’t delay.

We’ve also added two new colors to the line-up, check them out!

And now the real reason for this blog post.

I’m incredibly happy to announce that Trek Light has partnered up with Be The Change Volunteers to help us pay it forward with every single Bindle Pack purchased.

BTCV is an incredible non-profit organization that is dedicated to changing lives by building and rebuilding schools and providing educational opportunities to areas and children in desperate need around the world.

Building schools is just the first step to creating a learning environment and through our partnership with BTCV we’re going to be supplying these children around the world with desperately needed school supplies to make sure they have the tools they need to learn and succeed.

For every single Bindle Pack sold, BTCV will help us deliver a school supply pack to a child in need: Pencils, Notebooks and Folders.   It’s a one-for-one model, every backpack you buy gets a school supply kit to one child/student, it’s that simple.

I can’t say enough how excited I am to form this new partnership and be connected with a great organization like Be The Change Volunteers

To give you an idea of the impact they’ve had around the world, BTCV has so far built schools in: Guatemala, India, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia and Rwanda

In only 5 years since their founding in 2007 they already have over 4,000 students getting a life-changing education in schools they’ve built and rebuilt around the world.

Please take a minute to check out their website, like their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter and let them know that Trek Light fans appreciate the incredible work they’re doing around the world.

If you’re interested in doing more to help, their site is filled with info on how you can attend a school build, make a donation, or even get your classroom and school system involved if you’re a teacher.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out our new Bindle Pack, you can view details and purchase it here.

We’ve been getting incredible reviews since we introduced it, including some prominent press from Gizmodo, The Gear Junkie and more.  I’ve been doing my own ‘product testing’ for months now and have taken my pack on day hikes and backpacking trips and to music festivals, sporting events, business travel and more.

I can’t say enough about the versatility of the pack and how easy it is to pack down and travel with, whether you’re going by plane, bike or your own two legs. When I saw the response to our Bindle Pack I knew we had a product destined to be one of our most popular and successful.

Which is exactly why it was so important to me to connect this product with the power to create change in the world.  When I think about the problems our world faces, from environmental issues to war and political divides, education is and always will be the answer.

There’s a universal truth that unites every person on this planet: We’re all born into different circumstances, different cultures, religions and opportunities when we enter the world and not a single one of us has a say in how the cards fall at birth.

Individual progress and success comes when we learn - from our mistakes, from other great minds, and from the world around us.  In a classroom we learn to listen, to question, to discuss and to push ourselves forward - and there are too many children in the world that will never have the simple chance that so many of us take for granted.

We’re going to change that.

Thanks for supporting our mission at Trek Light to make a difference. The best is yet to come and together we will Be The Change.
